As of today, a computer with 100 qubits and good enough gate fidelity is within reach. While this doesn’t represent a threat in itself, the rapidly increasing chances that a large quantum computer could happen within 10 years is significant enough to put good protections in place now for communications and data which are at the heart of our society.
