Second Edition of the Alain Aspect Symposium: “Climate and Quantum”

EventNewsPress6 November 2024

Paris, France, November 6, 2024 – The second Alain Aspect Symposium on Quantum Technologies will be held on Tuesday, November 19, and Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, under the theme “Climate and Quantum.”.

This international event will explore the solutions quantum technologies can offer in addressing climate challenges, as well as the impact these emerging technologies might have on climate change. The symposium will bring together 30 scientists, business leaders, investors, and key figures from Europe, Japan, and the United States, along with 200 participants, including academics, researchers, students, startups, and industry professionals. This interdisciplinary environment will foster synergies and create a conducive platform for establishing new collaborations.

Sessions dedicated to startups and large companies are planned, along with roundtable discussions encouraging cross-disciplinary exchanges aimed at generating concrete technological solutions to climate challenges. The symposium will also provide a stage for collective initiatives such as Q4Climate, the Open Quantum Institute, and the Quantum Energy Initiative to showcase their progress.

The opening plenary session will feature prominent figures like Alain Aspect (Nobel Prize 2022), Tim Palmer, and Étienne Klein, who will discuss the current challenges and necessary steps to maximize the impact of quantum technologies on climate issues.

Co-organized by Quantonation and iXcampus, with the participation of the Institut d’Optique, the University of Sherbrooke, and the Lab Quantique, this event serves as a key platform for strengthening collaborations between quantum scientists and climate experts. Together, they will explore innovative solutions to the computational and technological challenges posed by climate change.
